Fall Group Classes Announced

Perhaps Neil Young said it best with “Harvest Moon”: “There’s a full moon rising / Let’s go dancing in the light / We know where the music’s playing / Let’s go out and feel the night.” This song always makes me think of autumn, especially in California, where we often have Indian summers, and Halloween is just a full moon away.

Autumn is a great time to bring more music into your life, and these group classes are designed to do just that. In addition, private lessons can help you dive deeper and receive individualized attention on your instrument and music studies. Read on for more information about both, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out for more information or with any questions.

Beginning Guitar Series

My popular Beginning Guitar group classes return with Beginning Guitar 1 in September followed by Beginning Guitar 2 in October. Open to anyone from complete beginners to those with a little bit of experience, these group classes will teach you at least four of the basic chords needed to play almost any song.

Beginning Ukulele Series

This incredibly popular instrument from Hawai’i helped get everyone on the mainland dancing and singing together—something we need more of today, now more than ever! Come learn three basic chords and strums so you can play almost any popular song at parties, campfires, and on any beautiful autumn afternoon.

Voice & Singing

In this unique group voice and singing class, you’ll learn to access the most authentic voice there is—your own! Through Linklater- and Alexander Technique-based voice work, you’ll discover how to connect your breathing with your voice, allowing you to resonate louder and more clearly without extra effort. Each week, we’ll sing several short, easy songs together, including rounds and songs in different languages, so we can experience the joy of singing together.

Songwriting

Discover the wonderful world of songwriting in thisproductive and inspirational group class. Each week, we’ll look at a differentsong and analyze its form, content, and effectiveness. We’ll explore the“tactile” components of songwriting you can use. We’ll devote time in-class towriting exercises. And we’ll all share, as equals, our progress on an originalsong, culminating in an in-class performance on the final day.

Private Lessons

In my private lesson practice, students work to discover their authentic voice—whether singing or through their instrument—and create a repertoire of music that builds on itself. I’m all about learning to play music with minimal effort and maximum efficiency, something best achieved with consistent practice and a dedicated, weekly, instructor.
